The Forbidden City, also named Palace Museum, is the most magnificent and splendid palace complex in China and one of the five world-famous palaces with the Palace of Versailles in France, Buckingham Palace in England, the White House in the U.S. and the Kremlin in Russia. Beihai Park is one of the first important cultural sites placed under protection by the State Council. In the garden, pavilions and towers nestle amid the beautiful scenery of lakes and hills,grass and trees. Carrying on the traditions of garden landscaping of ancient China Beihai is a gem of garden art.

Wangfujing Business Street lies in Dongcheng District, the center of Beijing. A mere kilometer away from Tiananmen Square, the beautiful walking street houses the well-known Beijing Department Store, the famous Dong’an Market, the biggest arts and crafts shop in China, the biggest Xinhua Bookstore, the Foreign Languages Bookstore, the Lisheng Sports Shop, the Medical Appliances Shop, and so forth.

Liulichang Street – Old and new, real and fake, moral and immoral, it was all to be found on Liulichang Street, it is really a visitor’s treat. Located in the southwestern part of the city, Liulichang is one of two streets which still bear the appearance of a Qing Dynasty market street ( the other is Suzhou Street in the Summer Palace mainly for show purposes).

Beijing National Stadium, nicknamed “the Bird’s Nest” for its unique architecture, is settled at Olympic Green, located east of the Beijing National Aquatics Center in beijing. The Stadium is to stage sports events at national and international levels, as well as cultural and entertaining activities;

National Aquatics Center, one of the landmark buildings of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, is located inside the Beijing Olympic Green. It is axially related to the National Stadium on the north part of Beijing Central Axis and reinforces the historical and cultural features of Beijing city.

The Purple Bamboo Park is a mountain-water landscaped garden. As the name suggests, the garden has a large variety of bamboos, more than 50 species, with the most prominent being the black bamboo. It covers an area of 140,000 square meters (34.5 acres), including three lakes and two small islands on the lakes. Five arched bridges connect the lakes, isles and main garden area and there are scattered corridors and pavilions throughout.

Yuyuantan Park in west Beijing is best known for its historical diaoyutai (angling terrace) because the writer Wang Yu used to fish there during the Jin dynasty. For hundreds of years a favourite scenic spot of the emperors, it’s now the site of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse – a sort of ‘Chinese Camp David’ for foreign dignitaries. The park itself is also famous for its cherry blossom and is a hit with families thanks to the two huge play areas.

Laoshe Tea House – garishly decorated teahouse is named for one of the most famous plays by celebrated Chinese writer Lao She. Performances change nightly but always include opera and acrobatics.
