According News Office of the Chongqing Municipal Government, On October 17, 2013, the State Council officially approved the policy that Chongqing will allow transit passengers 72-hour visa-free stays at Jiangbei International Airport from November.

Visitors eligible for visa-free stays must have air tickets to a third country with confirmed dates and seats, and visas where required. The policy will apply to passengers from 45 countries including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Canada and Japan.

Now Chongqing has become the 5th city to introduce 72 -hour visa-free policy after Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu. The policy will boost Chongqing`s local tourism, commerce, culture, exhibitions and air travel.
