There are 25 different ethnic minorities in Yunnan, making one-third of the province’s total population. Our Yunnan trekking covers Kunming, Lijiang and Zhongdian, aiming to give an experience of rural and remote southwest China.

Itinerary Details

Day 01: Kunming  
Arrive Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, is well known as the City of Eternal Spring City. You will be met at airport and transfer to hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 02: Kunming B
Drive 90 Kilometers to visit to Stone Forest, which was formed by karst two million to thirty mullion years ago. The fantastic stone pinnacles rising abruptly from the ground resemble a huge, dense forest.

Day 03: Kunming-Lijiang B
Morning transfer to airport for flight to Lijiang, a place blessed with fresh air, clear streams, breathtaking snow-capped mountains, and an undisturbed landscape inhabited by a friendly Naxi minority people. Visit the Lijiang Old Town also named Dayan Town, is a well-preserved old city and Black Dragon Pool, its name from the waters which sparkle like jade and are as clear as spring water.

Day 04: Trekking In Lijiang B.L.D  (14 km and 6 hours hiking)
In the morning, take a 3.5hours driving along Yunnan-Tibet Road to Daju & trek from Daju to Bendiwan. Visit to the Tiger Leaping Gorge en route, which is the longest, deepest, and narrowest gorge in the world. The total trekking distance is about 14 km or 6 hours, including rest time. Overnight at a guest house in Bendiwan.

Day 05: Lijiang-Zhongdian (Shangri-la) B.L (15km and 6 hours hiking)
Continue your trekking from Bendiwan to Qiaotou. En route you will visit the Haba Mountains, Zhongluoyu Village and the “24 Bends” and so on. Then continue drive to Zhongdian (Shangri-la means a place of good fortune and luck.). The total trekking distance is around 15km or 6 hours, including rest time.

Day 06: Zhongdian B (
Full day visit to Ganden Songzanglin Monastery. Founded in the 17th century during the reign of the Great Fifth Dalai Lama. Ganden Songzanglin Monastery is nicknamed by local the Lesser Potala Palace. Also visit the nature Park – Pudacuo National Park, which includes Bita Lake, Shudu Lake & Xiage Tibetan Village. You will also enjoy Tibetan dancing show and visit a local Tibet Family.

Day 07: Zhongdian B.L
Today you’ll trek or have a horse riding on the Mt. Rotupo, protector god mountain of Shangri-La. At noon time, have lunch with lunch box. Your trekking destination is the Ringha Temple (Five Wisdom Temple), the oldest and the most holy Tibetan Buddhism temple in Shangri-La. Then vehicle transfer back to hotel.

Day 08: Zhongdian-Kunming-Departure B
Morning transfer to Diqing airport for flight back to Kunming and connect to your own home-bound flight.
